In addition to gracing our screens during the Spring, it’s become custom for Joe Bob Briggs to return for holiday specials, particularly in October. And while Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown had already been announced by Shudder, we’ve just learned more details that makes things all the more interesting.
Special Guests
On Twitter today, Jason Blum of Blumhouse confirmed that both he and Halloween Kills director David Gordon Green will be guest starring on the October 8th special! Joe Bob is no stranger to featuring popular and iconic guests. Everyone from Roger Corman to Clint Howard to Eli Roth to Jeffrey Combs to Bruce Campbell, and that was just in the last season.

What makes these two particular guests all the more exciting is the fact that their incredibly anticipated sequel to 2018’s Halloween is coming out the following week both in theaters and on Peacock.
This could mean a lot of different things. Joe Bob will definitely be asking them to spill the blood, so to speak, on the upcoming sequel, and maybe (just maybe) we’ll get to watch 2018’s Halloween with Joe Bob as one of the two featured movies.
Whenever a guest is announced, it usually means they’re showing a movie made by or with said guest. Now this isn’t always the case, as Eli Roth was present during Mother’s Day, a movie that was a great inspiration to him.
But this is the first time that such a high profile studio head will be present on The Last Drive In, and it could potentially mean that both movies will be Blumhouse ones. Although usually during the October special, they only show Halloween themed movies, which could mean the 2018 iteration.
Either way, Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown just got way more emancipated with only a week to go! The special can be watched live on Shudder TV Friday October 8, 2021 at 9pm ET/6pm PT. It will also be available on demand via Shudder on Sunday October 10.
