“Stranger Things” Season 4 Volume 2 Trailer Promises Epic Showdown

After a three year hiatus, Stranger Things came back with a bang.  The first volume of Season 4 left both fans and critics amazed at the intensity, character moments, and shocking plot developments.  So with Volume 2 only 10 days away, Netflix just amped up the anticipation with a full trailer of the final two episodes, both of which will be as long feature length movies!

Spoilers Ahead for Season 4 Volume 1

The Ultimate Showdown
The trailer begins with Matthew Modine’s Dr. Brenner narrating the grim and mammoth task that awaits Eleven, all while an instrumental version of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” plays.  We see all the characters at their most desperate and vulnerable, getting ready to take on the biggest and most powerful villain they’ve ever faced.

ST 2
Ever since “Dear Billy” that song is the unofficial theme song of this series!

After the revelation that Vecna is actually 001 aka Henry Creel, the stakes are now higher than they’ve ever been.  We know now that it was Eleven who banished Vecna to the Upside Down, and it’s likely that the Mind Flayer and every other nightmarish creature may have all been his own creations and doings.

We see glimpses of the Hawkins crew banding together for a fight unlike anything they’ve ever faced.  The trailer also includes the return of the demidogs, more footage of the Demogorgon in Russia with Hopper, Murray, and Joyce (hopefully that storyline somehow connects).

ST 3
Also Murray with a flamethrower, what more could you ask for?!

However, knowing that there will be another season after this makes its epic nature feel a bit dwindled.  It would almost feel more grand if we thought this might be the end of the series and this final battle was the war to end all wars.

Because it means either they don’t defeat Vecna and he continues to be our archvillain through Season 5, or it means having to top him in Season 5 with a different villain.  And both of those would make this showdown feel like the epic that they want it to.

ST 1
You can bet on there being a reunion/confrontation between Vecna and his “creator” Dr. Brenner.

Either way, these final two episodes are promising a great deal.  And due to Netflix’s very smart decision to release this season in two parts, this is perhaps the most anticipating audiences have ever had going into Stranger Things!

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 premieres on Netflix July 1, 2022.  Our review will be up same day, along with an in depth spoiler video review of the season overall!
