Everything Coming to Shudder May 2023

Halfway to Halloween month may be almost halfway over, but Shudder still plans on delivering the scares come May.  Shudder’s May lineup will include more episodes of The Last Drive In Season 5A (which begins on April 21) and Slasher: Ripper (which began on April 6), as well as new originals/exclusives and a few brutally violent French films to add to the library!

Exclusives/Originals

Huesera: The Bone Woman – May 12th

Directed by Michelle Garza Cervera, this supernatural thriller deals with a pregnant woman being cursed by an evil spirit.  She then turns to a group of witches to save her.

Consecration – May 19th

Starring Jena Malone and Timothy Huston, this “nuns-ploitation” movie deals with  the disturbing goings on at Mount Savoir Convent.

Influencer – May 26th

From the director of Spiral (the Shudder original from 2019), this movie follows a social media influencer on vacation in Thailand and goes full travel horror as she gets into something dark and sinister.

May 1st

High Tension (2003)

A secluded weekend getaway turns into a nightmare of brutal violence in this French horror film that holds absolutely nothing back.  Directed by Alexandre Aja.

Inside (2007)
After recently losing her husband, a pregnant woman deals with a mysterious and strange woman who wants her soon to be born child.

Livid (2011)
A group of friends break into a an abandoned dance academy searching for rumored treasure, however they quickly regret entering this terrifying death trap.

Martyrs (2015)
This American remake of the French thriller deals with a woman seeking violent revenge on those who abused her as a child.  Starring Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars).

May 8th

Poison for the Fairies (1986)
A young girl pretends to be a witch, but what starts as fun and games takes a very dark and disturbing turn.

Darker than the Night (1975)
After inheriting a large house from an aunt, four woman move into what turns out to be a house filled with terrors and horrors.

May 15th

The Babadook (2014)

Reeling with grief from the loss of her husband, a single mother struggles with her son with severe behavioral issues.  All of this leads to them being tormented by the titular Babadook, a terrifying figure of supernatural origin!

The Devil’s Doorway (2018)
Set in 1960, two Irish priests are sent to investigate something mysterious, but find something far more terrifying than they imagined.

May 22nd

In Their Skin
(2012)
Starring Selma Blair, this movie deals with a family on vacation that’s rudely interrupted by another family hellbent on murder and stealing their identities.
